Te Tumu Paeroa is proud to offer Taupae Pia, a Graduate Programme like no other, offering recent graduates the opportunity to grow their kete of knowledge.

Mō Taupae Pia

Taupae Pia refers to the ridge or hill from where a student can look out and scan.

Taupae Pia is designed to provide you with opportunities to gain rich experience and knowledge that will ensure the protection of whenua as taonga tuku iho.

During this 12 month full-time programme you will gain knowledge in Māori land administration and how it relates to your specialist discipline, while gaining first-hand experience in:

  • Finance
  • Information Management
  • Risk
  • Governance
  • Trust administration
  • Land-based enterprises
  • Project management
  • Communications and Marketing
  • Legal

You will be based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara but you will have the chance to walk the whenua with owners and understand the journey to tino rangatiratanga.

Throughout your 12 months with us, you will be guided by a mentor who will tautoko you to be the best you can be.

Depending on your discipline, you will be guided through either a rotation of areas that will include a mix of on-the-job learning or a longer-term placement to hone and focus your specialist skill set.

So that the foundations of ancestral lands may be solid, benefitting Māori from our past, present and future alike.

This is Te Tumu Paeroa, we support the Māori Trustee to fulfil her responsibilities as kaitiaki, supporter and advancer of the mana of Māori land everywhere.

Our vision is to ensure Māori land is protected and enhanced, now and for generations to come.

As a dedicated professional trustee service for Māori we achieve this through our values – Tōtika, Kotahitanga, Manaakitanga, and Mana.
